When you want the effectiveness of traditional braces without a mouthful of metal, clear braces might be the ideal option for your teeth-straightening journey. Clear braces provides the same straightening and reliability of metal braces but are composed of a series of translucent aligner trays. This composition allows for clear braces to go virtually unnoticed and allow for you to feel confident in your smile. These braces provide the same durability and wear as of metal braces, however they present a more visually appealing treatment option. Clear braces are the most popular option for adult orthodontic patients due to their cosmetic appeal.
Clear Braces from our Philadelphia, PA, dental practice can straighten your teeth comfortably and effectively, all while being virtually invisible. Properly aligned teeth are not only more attractive, but they also benefit your oral health. Dr. Dmitri Karagodsky, our esteemed dentist, is known for his skill in enhancing patients’ smiles with this revolutionary orthodontic treatment, and for the personal attention which he affords to all of his patients.
The clear aligners used during treatment are removable, making eating and cleaning your teeth much simpler than with traditional braces.
Oral Health Benefits of Orthodontics
Misaligned teeth can put your oral health at risk for a number of reasons. Where they are present, cleaning between the teeth to remove plaque and bacteria can prove difficult, and this difficulty often leads to buildup which can, in turn, cause tooth decay and gum disease. Left untreated, gum disease can lead to serious problems, such as tooth loss, an increased risk for diabetes complications, heart disease, and other health issues. Protruding teeth chip and crack more easily, and misaligned teeth can cause opposing teeth to wear down. Some patients also experience jaw pain, chewing problems, and impaired speech. Effective orthodontic treatment alleviates these impediments, so that you are able to retain your natural teeth, and enjoy good oral health for a lifetime.
ClearCorrect™ Clear Aligners
ClearCorrect™ uses a series of custom-made clear aligner trays to move teeth, in place of the metal brackets and wires which traditional orthodontics require. The aligners are removable, which makes eating and cleaning your teeth much simpler would be the case with traditional braces. The trays are smooth, eliminating the discomfort of brackets and wires against the soft tissues of the mouth. One of the biggest advantages of systems such as ClearCorrect™ is that they are nearly invisible. Most people will not know that you are straightening your teeth unless you tell them.
The ClearCorrect™ system is a newer alternative to braces with some advantages over Invisalign.®
While he also offers Invisalign®, which is a similar system, Dr. Karagodsky prefers ClearCorrect™. The system uses thinner aligners with a smoother finish which prevents clouding after prolonged use. The doctor can order your aligners in phases, instead of all at once, allowing for corrections midway through treatment if adjustments become necessary. Many patients like the fact that ClearCorrect™ has all of its facilities in the United States, and provides only American-made products. Most patients, however, see the price of ClearCorrect™ as its chief advantage. ClearCorrect™ provides patients with virtually the same system as Invisalign® for a lower cost.
The Treatment Process
Treatment with clear braces starts with a consultation with Dr. Karagodsky. With a careful evaluation, he will determine whether you can achieve the results you are looking for using clear braces. Some patients have more complex orthodontic requirements which are better suited to traditional braces, which he also offers. If clear braces are right for you, the doctor will take digital images and x-rays of your teeth that will be used to design your custom aligners. With our digital imaging technology, you can preview your smile before you even begin treatment.
When your aligners are ready, you will wear each set for two weeks. The gentle, controlled force which they apply over time on specific teeth will guide them into their proper place. You should wear the aligners for at least 22 hours each day, only removing them during eating and cleaning. At the end of your treatment, Dr. Karagodsky will provide you with a custom retainer to maintain your teeth in their new positions.
